Mastering lipstick
Who would have thought there were so many types of lipstick? And of course you want to select the best lipstick for the look you are going for. There are so many wonderful lipstick brands to choose from, more than I could possible discuss today and many different and new creative ways to apply it. Lipstick can change your entire makeup look depending on how heavy your eye makeup is. Makeup moves with the times and fashion, it keeps up with the new generation. In saying that, sometimes the old school traditions are the most simplistic and easiest ways of applying makeup, in this case, lipstick. Below I have displayed a number of examples of different types of lipsticks available on the market, how it’s made and the easiest way to apply them.

How the different types of lipstick are used to create a look
Matt lipsticks are generally used to create a 1920-50′s look as they did not use shimmers back then. Matt tends to last longer and looks deeper, brighter or more rich than say a lipstick with gloss.
Natural lipsticks were designed for a soft beautiful look that made it seem you had nothing on but were still achieving perfect lips. Sheer lipsticks are for a natural look as well. They are great for everyday use.
Shimmer lipsticks are used for a more glamorous look for going out. There are natural lipsticks with a shimmer to them as well. Again they can look quite glamorous if you have darker eye shadow, if you don’t then it can look quite natural.
Let’s watch how lipstick is made
Applying lipstick
I find that when I use a lipliner with red lipstick, it helps me to get that perfect lip line with sharp edges. The trick to applying lipliner is to make sure you liner pencil is sharp and never draw a continous line along your lips. Always continous small lines as you will have more control.
When you are applying your lipstick, try using a lip brush, again you may find you have more control and can get those lines sharp. I always start in the middle of my lower lip blending the lipstick outwards, I do the same on my upper lip starting with my cupids bow.
